Alarm about hunger – hormones as reporters

Hormones are carried in the blood to their target organs and cells.

They bind to the cells at a special place, called receptor and transfers the message to the cell on the principle of a key that is appropriate for a particular lock.

How hormones will be finally secreted is determined by very stimulating and inhibiting hormones.

Secretion of hormones lasts until the hormonal signal.

For example, it may be the case when the body needs essential nutrients.

With the help of hormone reporters it’s firstly pointed to the need, followed by proper food intake.

The process ends only when the required nutrients will be transferred to the appropriate place, i.e. cells.

In order to succeed, the pancreas enhances insulin secretion for two, three and even four times.

Experts call this process “hyperinsulinemia”.

This way a small fraction of the nutrients enter cells in the body, but most of them remain, so insulin “stores” them in the adipose tissue.
